It is important to choose a reputable tour operator, tourist agency or guide who has an official license issued by the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
There has been a recent increase in the number of white taxi drivers in front of hotels, etc. It is safer to use an official registered licensed car with a yellow license plate. If you use a car just because it's cheap and easy, be aware that there is no insurance in case of an accident.
Tourist guides and interpreters by foreigners are prohibited in Thailand.
